Privacy Statement
Last updated: October 2026
Southern Stone Migration is a registered Australian migration agency. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This statement explains how we do that through this website and in our work for clients.
What we collect
When you contact us or book through this website we collect the details you give us:
- Your name, email address and phone number
- Your message and any details about your situation
- Whether you are an employer, an individual or a family, and, if you are in Australia, the visa you hold and when it expires
- Your language preference
If you become a client
Migration work needs more detail, such as identity documents, passport and visa information, family details, employment and education records, health and character information, and business documents for employers. We collect this only with your knowledge and only as needed for your matter. Some of it is sensitive information, which we handle with extra care and collect only with your consent or where the law allows.
Why we collect it
- To respond to your enquiry and arrange consultations
- To give migration advice and to prepare and lodge applications on your behalf
- To meet our legal and professional obligations as registered migration agents, including record keeping
- To run and improve our website and services
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where it is needed for your matter or the law requires it. This can include the Department of Home Affairs and other government bodies, skills assessing authorities, sponsors and employers who are part of your application, and professional advisers such as translators, accountants or lawyers you ask us to involve.
We use trusted service providers for email, form delivery, document storage and software tools, including cloud and AI-assisted tools. Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it, and we do not sell personal information or use it for third-party marketing.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to Southern Stone Monthly we use your email address to send you our newsletter. Your address is held by our email service provider, which may store it outside Australia. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email, and we do not sell or share your email address for third-party marketing.
Our website
The enquiry form sends your details to us through a form service, and by email. This website also embeds content from third parties, such as Google Maps and Instagram. Those services may collect information and set cookies under their own privacy policies when you view them.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this website, such as which pages are viewed and how people find us. It uses cookies and collects information such as your device, browser, approximate location and the pages you visit; it does not tell us who you are. You can block these cookies in your browser settings or with Google's opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Keeping it secure
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including access controls and secure storage. We keep client records for as long as the law and our professional obligations require, and then destroy or de-identify them securely. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, so please do not include sensitive documents in an enquiry form. We will tell you how to send them safely.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. You can also ask us not to contact you again. We will respond within a reasonable time. Contact us using the details below.
Complaints
If you are concerned about how we have handled your information, contact us first and we will look into it. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.
